Week 9 Picks

Since we're absolutely terrible at picking the over/under, Schwartz and I made an executive decision to only pick against the spread. Home team in caps. Whichever team is listed first is our pick for the game.

BILLS -5 Jets

The Bills offer balanced offense/defense against a Jets team that is streaky and bad against the pass. The Jets are very strong against he run, making this a tough matchup for Marshawn Lynch. Tyler Thigpen and the mighty KC passing attack almost knocked off Favre and the Jets last week. Expect Favre to continue to make mistakes (7 INT since the bye).

BEARS -12.5 Lions

The Lions are epically bad. The fantasy yahtzee of the week goes to the Chicago Bears offense, enjoy the high scores from Orton, Olson, Forte, Davis, Booker, Hester.

Jaguars -7 BENGALS

Believe it or not, the 0-8 Bengals are actually a worse team at home than on the road. Jacksonville gets healthier and healthier every week, playing more like that team they were expected to be. We think that Browns loss was an abberation.

Ravens +2.5 BROWNS

Give us one of the top defenses in the NFL and the points against Braylon Edwards, Derek Anderson and the rest of the jokers in Cleveland. The only potential way that this game gets interesting is if the Browns secondary continues its ball hawkish ways (9 INT this season) against rookie Joe Flacco.

Cardinals -2.5 RAMS

The Rams might be improved as a team but their defense is still terrible. The St. Louis secondary needs to have a big day if the Rams are going to win. Kurt Warner has a pretty excellent history in the Edward Jones Dome, so don't count on any miracle shockers this week.

Texans +5.5 VIKINGS

The Texans defense figures to give up quite a few points against Adrian Peterson and Co. after a bye week, but their offense should keep them in the game. Matt Schaub has nearly 1000 yards passing in his last 3 games. Andre Johnson has averaged 10.3 catches and 142 yards per game over the same time span. As long as the pass rush is held off, the Texans can carve up a mediocre Minnesota secondary.

Packers +3.5 TITANS

For 3 quarters we were spot on with our Indy pick last week. Aaron Rodgers with his new contract and defensive friends getting healthy coming off of bye sounds like a recipe for success against the undefeated Titans.

Bucaneers -8.5 CHIEFS

The Bucs are a real NFL team and won't be embarrassed like the Jets were last week.

Dolphins +4.5 BRONCOS

This one feels a lot like Dolphins/Texans from a few weeks ago. Many fantasy points will be scored. It should also be noted that Schwartz had to compose a poem in honor of Chad Pennington's greatness this week.

GIANTS -7.5 Cowboys

Giants homerism continues. Dallas is still pretty hurt and the Giants have the advantage on both the offensive and defensive lines. And Dallas is on the road. None of this bodes well for the Romo-less Cowboys.

Eagles -7 SEAHAWKS

The Seahawks defense is now not only playing poorly but also very injured. The over under for Brian Westbrook fantasy points in this one (PPR) is 40. I'll take the over.

Falcons -2.5 RAIDERS

Roddy White isn't a good play this week (assuming Asomugha lines up against him). Look for the Falcons ground game to get going again against DA RAIDERZZ. Darren McFadden isn't playing again, moving him farther and farther from fantasy football relevance.

COLTS -6.5 Patriots

At some point these Colts have to be the Colts again, right?

Steelers +2 REDSKINS

I don't trust Jason Campbell against the #1 pass defense in the NFL on Monday night. The Steelers are going to be fuming from their loss to the Giants last week and will probably tee-off on the Redskins offensive players. The only particularly worrisome point is the Washington pass rush against Ben "I'm one hit away from having my career ended behind this O-Line" Roethlisberger.
